Food Pantry
Inclusion is at the heart of our mission. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of their background. Our programs aim to serve the diverse population of Yonkers and ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities.
FOOD PANTRY
For more than 50 years, Yonkers Community Action Program (YCAP) has proudly operated aFood Pantry serving residents of the City of Yonkers.
This essential nutrition program is a cornerstone of our community, providing consistent access to quality food for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. From the first client served to the last, YCAP is committed to offering the same level of care, dignity, and variety to everyone who seeks assistance.
The Food Pantry is located at 12 St. Joseph Avenue in Yonkers, NY, and is available to eligible families twice per month. Distribution begins at 8:30 a.m. on scheduled service days.
SITE-SPECIFIC FOOD DELIVERY
YCAP’s Site-Specific Food Delivery Program offers convenient food distribution on scheduled dates at two designated locations in Yonkers. This service is available to registered YCAP clients and takes place between 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The program is designed to make accessing healthy food easier and more reliable for individuals and families in our community.
HOME DELIVERY
YCAP’s Home Delivery Program helps ensure our senior citizens and neighbors with physical disabilities have reliable access to nutritious food, even when getting out isn’t easy. Registered YCAP participants may receive once-monthly food deliveries brought directly to their door by DoorDash on scheduled dates between 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. This service is designed to offer convenience, dignity, and peace of mind to those who need it most.
YCAP's Food Truck
Launched in the Summer of 2025 with the support of YCAP's partners, YCAP's Food Truck is a strategic outreach initiative that expands access to nutritious food while directly addressing food insecurity in underserved Yonkers neighborhoods.
The food truck’s primary hours of operation align with YCAP’s Food Pantry schedule, which occurs bi-weekly from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. During these pantry distributions, the food truck is on site to support and enhance service delivery. In addition, the food truck is utilized for special events and community occasions as needed, and it is also driven throughout the community for outreach and marketing purposes.
Information about the food truck, including locations, schedules, and upcoming events, can be found here on our website. This ensures community members have access to timely and accurate updates.
The food truck is staffed with a designated driver and an assigned chef, who prepares meals and serves community members directly. The food provided consists of items sourced from YCAP’s Food Pantry, prepared in a way that is accessible and culturally appropriate.
Beyond food distribution, the food truck serves an educational and outreach purpose. It is used to educate the community on how to prepare and utilize the various foods distributed through YCAP’s pantry, while also sharing information about pantry hours, pantry location, and the range of services offered by YCAP.
